Let's Talk About Common Service Issues with Perreaux
Perreaux Industries use extremely high quality parts, and many of those parts are Military-Spec quality. With this being said (after 30-plus years in the Field), things do break. Most of Perreaux's circuitry is configured for Class-A operation, which creates an ultra-low distortion metric for Perreaux amplifiers. This means that the transistors, capacitors, and resistors inside Perreaux (also Bryston, McIntosh and Mark Levinson) equipment run high temperatures throughout the lifetime of the product. After decades of faithful service, we replace a small number of parts that bring your Perreaux back to the same-if-not-better operation than when new. Advances in technology make this possible for us to maintain these exacting standards that Peter Perreaux originally set-forth in the early 80's. The following list gives the basic issues that we see and expertly repair for Perreaux Legacy equipment:
  • Front-panel power switch failures - Most common
  • Static, popping, and distortion - 2nd most common
  • Buzzing sound in the output - 3rd most common
  • No output from the component - 4th most common
  • Loud hum from amplifier output - 5th most common
  • No cosmetic parts: Faceplates, knobs, rack handles
  • Perreaux SA3 - PMF1850
